all die when diagnosed with cancer. My family was struck with a tragedy of my grandfather dying of many different cancers, liver cancer being the one they found most prevalent. Liver cancer can be diagnosed by physical exams along with medical history, blood tests and different scans. Some scans are CT, MRI, bone scan, Imaging tests and ultrasounds. These tests help but another big test is blood tests, and biopsies. Radiation therapy is rarely used for this type of cancer. When getting medically checked symptoms that show liver cancer are; pain near the right shoulder blade or in the back, discomfort in the upper abdomen on the right side, Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes), a hard lump on the right side just below the rib cage, easy bruising or bleeding, a swollen abdomen, unusual tiredness, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, and weight loss for no known reason. A few you can notice yourself and see your doctor about is having a fever, loss of appetite/ feeling full after small meals, dark urine, pale chalky bowel movements. Noticing these symptoms early help the chances of treating the cancer and the treatments succeeding. Treatment options depend on the stage of cancer. The stage system for Liver cancer is 0 is very early, A is the early stage, B is the intermediate stage, C is the advanced stage, and D is the final stage, aka the end stage. The route they take for stages 0, A, and B is to cure the cancer so they use the treatments that will most likely cure the cancer. One treatment is just surgery, this is the most used for trying to cure the cancer. For C and D, by the time the cancer has gotten to theses stages it is so bad it will most likely not be cured. At the stage C and D point the treatments are just to relieve the symptoms and give the patient a better life. Liver cancer is caused by things that can be controlled, but sometimes not. Causes of liver cancer are; contracting hepatitis B or C virus, alcohol abuse, type two diabetes, simply being male, and race. Asian Americans and highland pacific islanders are more likely to contract liver cancer. There are some simple ways to help prevent Liver cancer, though it is not a given that you will not get Liver cancer you can avoid it with lifestyle choices and changes. Alcohol abuse is a big contributor to liver cancer. Not abusing Alcohol and if at all using in controlled amounts, will help. Though you can control some caused, there are some you can not like race and gender.
