Living Donor Interview
I interviewed a living donor with a non-directed relationship which means that she has yet to meet the person she donated her organ to, but she will eventually. Peggy Bolster is one of the most incredible people I have ever had the chance to talk to. She had tried to donate one of her kidneys on three different occasions! She told me after recently donating one of her kidneys, “it has been a tremendous experience that I would repeat if I could. Mainly, it has been tremendous for the inner feeling I have about having given someone a working kidney. It is not an outward thing, as no-one can see that I have done it, but it gives me a good feeling to know that I did it.” She said she had the ability “to ease someone’s existence” and that others
should be more aware of the power of donation. But, before a person receives a transplant it is vital that they are educated and know what to expect before transplant, during the transplant surgery, and post transplant.
