There are a number of different ways to investigate and expolore diversity within the local community and on to a larger scale, your town, city and even nation or country.
These can be done by simple observations by one or more observer, either direct observations such as standing in a busy place and observing at a specific place over a particular time scale or collating data through a survey or questionnaire and using a tickbox type of survey. They can then be placed into specific categories such as gender, ethnicity, age or socioeconomic class. You can see the different types of venues and events in a community this way. These can be sports venues, religious venues and social venues.
There is a different way and that is Desktop Research. This can be using local or national resources such as a local library and information service, local and national experts who can provide expert knowledge on different things and the internet.
2. Using one (or more) of the methods you outlined in Question 1, describe the extent of diversity that exists within your community. You should illustrate your work with some actual data such as statistics or desktop research.
