There are many differences between living in the city or in a country setting, but the country setting has many more advantages over the city. The air and water quality and other environment factors are improved in the country setting. The school system is safer and less crowded in a rural setting. The roads are not loaded with traffic and taxis. The country is safer than the city and crime rates are lower. In the country, there is an abundance of trees and vegetation. In the country, there are parks and open spaces, and there is a variety of wildlife to observe. Although some of the reasons why one might choose to live in either place are left to personal preference, there are many factors based solely on facts.…
Life in the city is challenging, but it provides many opportunities unlike country living. There are many activities taking place around the clock. Shopping services are convenient and close, which offer anything a person could want or need. It is also a good place in case an emergency was to occur. Hospital, police stations and firefighters would be easy to get in touch with. The city life provides many advantages of a modern society, but it carries a heavy cost. For example the housing and food in the city are expensive. Another major advantage of city living is public transportation. Transportation is always there, but it gets expensive when you take a taxi to and from work every day. We have all heard of the term “downtown", which is all the entertainment in the city such as clubs, restaurants, and other major social events. In the city there are many more stressed people. All of these things take a huge toll on one's body over a period of years. Another huge problem in the city is the air is polluted. The opportunity to relax in the city is most likely to never happen ,if you lived in the country you can relax whenever you would like.…

The layout of the city life is much more modern in style than the farm life. Usually, the scenery in a city is of high buildings, loud, and not as green, but it does offer more conveniences. City life is better described as being at a faster pace, and having peer pressure along with work pressure. In the city, there are a big variety of universities, colleges, schools, museums, theaters, and markets. These days people usually prefer the modern lifestyle. People in the city tend to give their everyday needs the same priority as their materialistic desires. City dwellers can be easily embarrassed if they have an older car or if they have a job that pays less than their friends or relatives.…

More and more people choose to live in cities which offer more resources and education. However, rural area also has indispensable characters. In this essay, I will show you three differences between urban and rural areas based on my personal experience. Contrast Between Urban and Rural Areas After entering the college, I have broadened my insights about the world by contacting with urban areas and thereby observing a number of differences between cities and rural areas. As a child growing up in a primitive rural village, I was told to study in a city to seek a competitive advantage. With curiosity and anticipation, I wondered what I was going to experience. During the few years I have noticed that the rural and urban areas, given their distinctive backgrounds, are distinguishing in interpersonal relationships, lifestyles, and the memories of childhood. The obvious difference is the relationship between people. At the time when I took courses in Taipei, every day I stepped out the apartment of my relative, locked the door with three locks, walked alone on the streets, and then took the MRT to my destination. Day by day, I didn’t even recognize those who lived next door. Curiosity, however, made me play the speculating game, peeking at the person’s direction and imagining how many people lived behind the doors. It was confirmed that people living in the city seldom know their neighbors. In contrast to the city’s indifference, the relationship in the rural area is warm. Living harmoniously, people share their harvest to neighbors, get together cheerfully chatting about their crops and children at comfortable summer nights, and greet neighbors with smile which I seldom see in the city. The second diversity I observe is the living pace. In the beginning while walking in the bustling street of Taipei city, I found a lot of people passing by me, emerging far away in seconds, and soon disappearing in my…
Education is extremely important when deciding to live in rural or urban areas. In most rural areas the schools are public and only go up to the eighth grade. The students will then transfer to the nearest city/town to attend high school. A benefit to this is that the student to teacher ratio is about 15:1(Richardson), whereas bigger towns and cities have an average student to teacher ratio of 30:1(Blankenship). The smaller class allows the teacher to spend more one on one time with each student. In an urban setting, parents have a number of choices available for the education of their children and can often select from a long list of both public and private school districts. Urban areas also have better funded schools which allow for the students to have access to computers and up to date textbooks every year. With both areas offering different education avenues it is up to the parents to determine how they want their kids to learn.…

Man is a social animal by nature and he cannot live in isolation. Throughout history, human beings have gathered to form civilizations some of which flourished in such a way that they reached the zenith of development. All these civilizations were characterized by their peculiar and unique settlements and culture patterns. Human settlements form a feature that has been a defining element between the two distinct forms of societies – rural and urban. The debate on “country life versus urban life" is as old as the hills. Whereas country life presents the very basic form of living, urban life is blessed with more comforts and facilities. Urban settlements emerged as civilizations progressed and people required a closer interaction for their economic, social and political needs. Urban life comforted man with basic amenities as well as sheer luxuries of life and has become a hallmark of prosperity and growth. Country life, on the other hand, offers a natural setting, impossible to be found in urban dwellings. The serene beauty and absolute purity of country environment, its traditional and rich culture and simple lifestyle, stronger social bonding and sincerity among people and remarkably fewer rates of crimes make country life a preferable form of living. Though country life, in many cases, lacks access to the civic amenities that are indispensable for a trouble-free living, most people still prefer to live in rural…

The issue of whether the children should grow up in the countryside or in the big city has been widely debated in our society.
