The contributions of Corazon Aquino
President Aquino made a number of really important contributions to the Philippines:
She oversaw changes to the constitution that limited the powers of the president
She promoted human rights and civil liberty
She attempted to broker peace with various political factions and insurgents
She pushed the Filipino economy in a more healthy and responsible direction
She guided the country through difficult times
She promoted national identity and the Filipino language

?Who is President Cory, and why are you thanking her?? they must have asked their fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles. That?s probably when their parents started to tell them about the all-powerful Marcos regime and how young people just like them fought back?and died?to break the dictator?s stranglehold on the Filipino people. They must have listened intently to the story of Ninoy Aquino, who decided to come home and join the people in their fight for freedom, only to be mercilessly killed by soldiers at the tarmac. They must have found it hard to believe how brave their own parents were, rallying around Ninoy?s courageous widow Cory, who showed them that faith can indeed move mountains or?in this instance?topple a dictatorship without violence or bloodshed.
Our young people today, probably, did not hear a heartfelt retelling of the story of People Power when Cory was still with the living. In a few years, will they remember Cory the way schoolchildren in the ?80s were taught to remember Marcos as somebody who ?declared martial law to save the Republic?? Will Cory still be held in deep respect 10 to 12 years from now, when today?s Grade 1 pupils shall have finished university and shall have become young adults?
How will future generations know of Cory and the Filipino people?s historic struggle to be free? In school of course, in their Hekasi and Araling Panlipunan classes. Our youth are supposed to learn historical events, facts and even trivia in the

That was the famous promise of General Douglas MacArthur to the Philippines before leaving for Australia. When Filipinos come to think of it, there are some who have probably forgotten him or possibly did not know what he did for us at all. Having been given the task to write about the American rule in the Philippines, I have decided to concentrate on writing about what General MacArthur did for the Philippines during World War II.…

Filipinos had their own educational ways. They weren't going to let us Americans come over and run everything that they knew and were extremely proud of into the ground. They were ready to fight even die over their independence. “Their independence is dearer to them than life, as ours was in years gone by, and is today”. Meaning the Filipinos were not at all budging they wanted their freedom so much they could see it in a wink of an eye. As so read in document 5 of the Anti-Imperialist League a soldier wrote his honest belief.…

Spinoza’s Ethics is widely thought of as Spinoza’s greatest work. One noteworthy claim that he makes in his Ethics is his argument for substance monism, or the existence of only one substance. In Proposition 14, Part I of his Ethics, Spinoza states that “There can be, or be conceived, no other substance but God.” This statement amounts to saying that everything else in this world, whether it is extended or not, is a mere image of God. Spinoza’s proof for this comes in three steps. One, assume that no two substances can share an attribute. Two, assume that there exists a substance that contains infinite attributes. Three, by these two assumptions, another substance cannot exist because it would have to share an attribute with God. Although there are objections claiming these assumptions and, consequently, the proposition are wrong, these objections are based on misinterpretations of Spinoza’s definitions, and I believe Spinoza is correct in arguing for substance monism. In order to prove my point, I will first define some terms and give some axioms that Spinoza uses. Then I will prove the two assumptions he uses in his proof, and argue for substance monism. Afterwards, I will proceed to give the most common objection to Spinoza’s proof, followed by a refutation of this objection.…

WHAT IS FALLACY: A "fallacy" is a mistake, and a "logical" fallacy is a mistake in reasoning. There are, of course, other types of mistake than mistakes in reasoning. For instance, factual mistakes are sometimes referred to as "fallacies". However, the Fallacy Files is specifically concerned, not with factual errors, but with logical ones. In logic, the term "fallacy" is used in two related, but distinct ways. For example:…

Women are undoubtedly the most talked about being in this world. It had inspired many writers, orators and artists to be used as a topic of their masterpieces. According to George A. Malcom, an unbiased judge or jury would hand down a verdict based on overwhelming evidence that the greatest blessing of the Philippines is the Filipino women. Nor would a judgement to this effect come about because of masculine gallantry. It would rather stem from the Filipino woman’s acknowledge social and political quality with men and her innate ability and sense of responsibility. As her beer aptly remarked, the Filipino woman “is the best man in the country.” Malcom describes Filipino women as comely. In youth they are often young goddesses, erect in carriage, with clean golden-brown skin and dark flashing eyes, and possessed of black tresses long enough to reach the ground.…
