The book, Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, was written after WWII. This book is about a group of young boys that crash into a deserted island. After a while, most of the boys lost all morals and returned to savagery and murder. The author gives the understanding in the theme that without rules, morals, and guidelines the human race will fall into chaos. This means that the human race would once again become savages.
We see many examples of this type of savagery today, not only our culture but in foreign cultures as well. For instance, our culture loses morality at times and does not agree with the decisions of our judicial system. The case of Traevon Martin is an example of what could have occurred with the lack of rules/guidelines and the loss of morality. There were many angry people due to the outcome of trial and the final verdict. It created a volatile situation that could ended up in rioting and potential death. Yet in this particular situation, people followed the laws and held protests that were peaceful without any violence.
There have times when situations did end in violence and death. The rioting that occurred in the Rodney King case is a perfect example of how the people follow the rules. The mob mentality resulted in over six days of rioting, 53 deaths, and over 2,000 people being injured. The mob mentality is a situation where people group together and in anger lose all sense of morality and respect for rules. This is when things get out of hand and people get injured or killed.
Other countries have also seen a loss of morality and respect for rules. There are many terrorist attacks that occur because a group of people do not have respect for others lives and laws. There has been an example of this on our own soil with the devastation of 9/11. Thousands of people were killed for a senseless reason and lack of morality. Terrorists believe that Christians should be killed. There is no reason for this except what
