Lord Of The Flies Chapter 5 Summary
Chapter 5: Lord of the Flies In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Golding describes Ralph’s change from a confused leader to a confident leader with the use of metaphors and imagery. Ralph has many experiences on the island that test his leadership. When he thinks to himself the island impacts him, and attempts to bring out his savagery. In these moments he becomes a confident leader to change this and guide the others. In many different situations “he lost himself in deep waters” and wasn’t sure what to do. This metaphor symbolizes Ralph losing his mental calmness and how the island slowly changes him. Ralph in many ways changed to a confident leader and took charge in many instances, but he “to the boys was a darkish figure”. This
