Lord Of The Flies Chapter Analysis

After reading the first two chapters of “Lord of the flies” by William Golding I can use the chapter title and parts of the text to form predictions on what may happen for each chapter. The first chapter in the book “The Sound of the Shell” is the exposition to the whole story we are introduced to the characters and we are also introduced to the conch shell that is used to establish order and call the other kids “We can use this to call the others. Have a meeting. They’ll come when they hear us—” (16). This may be hinting at the kids trying to establish order and make their own civilization later in the story. The next chapter is “Fire on the Mountain” in this chapter they establish rules and make order but may be an illusion of order later
The Next chapter is “Huts on the Beach” where I predict they will make a camp or shelter to make their own society. The next few chapters which are “Painted Faces and Long Hair”, “Beast from Water”, “Beast from Air”, “Shadows and Tall Trees”, “Gift for the Darkness” is where I predict things will take a huge turn because of the chapter titles changing into a more dark tone and describing a monster probably the one from chapter 2 going after the kids. After the change in tone comes “A View to a Death” from the name I predict that someone probably one of the kids will die and is the most climatic part of the story. After that is “The Shell and the Glasses” I believe the falling action will start and may have something to do with Piggy since in the beginning Piggy found the shell and is the only one with glasses. Next, is “Castle Rock” which is still part of the falling action and it may be about the society they created or something related to it. “Cry of the Hunters” is where the resolution most likely will be and may involve the boys dying or getting rescued.
