with a pigs head and that is impossible to happen in real life. I also found Title references while I was reading this passage. The author repeats “Lord of the Flies” a couple of times, which is the name of this novel. The last literary element I found was Types of conflict. In my opinion, there was a conflict, either man vs. society or man vs. himself. I think that when the lord of the flies started talking to Simon, he started to realize that the Best is just symbolizing all the horrible things human beings do. Simon was the first one who started to realize it even before he met the lord of the flies. Before this incident, Simon once told the boys “What I mean is… maybe it’s only us that we are afraid of”, the writer probably wrote this to show the readers that Simon deep down knows what is going on. He meant to tell the others that maybe they know but it is way easier to pretend there is a beast than to face the fact that they are the problem and that they are actually just afraid of each other. The boys are just using the beast as an excuse to continue to act like they are acting and that is why they don’t realize what is going on. They are fearing and haunting something imaginary while they should really just be fearing themselves because there is evil within them.
