Introduction
I. By the show of hands, how many of you know what a biodiversity is?
II. For those of you who do not know, a biodiversity is a variety of the humans and species that live on Earth.
III. This is meaningful to you because I hope to speak for most of us when I say that I want my children and my grandchildren to experience the animals and wildlife we have today.
IV. However, according to ourfutureplanet.org the rate of a loss of biodiversity is occurring.
V. I am here today to discuss what a biodiversity is, the cause and effects of it, how it affects you, and what we can do to prevent it.

Body
TRANSITION: Let’s begin by talking about our biodiversity.
I. Biodiversity
A. A biodiversity can also be known as biological diversity.
1. This includes the variety of species and ecosystems on this planet.
2. All species are part of a biologically diverse Earth.
B. Why is biodiversity important?
1. Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity, where each species has their own specific role to play.
2. While we live in this ecosystem, we still need to care of it.
C. Biodiversity Loss
1. In 1192 a UN Conference on Environment and Development was held. It ended up producing a Convention on Biodiversity.
2. In 2010, the biodiversity target was not met to the global level.

TRANSITION: Now that you know what a biodiversity is, let’s move on to biodiversity loss cause and effects.
II. Causes of Loss of Biodiversity
A. Human population growth is the first leading cause of biodiversity loss.
1. Rise in population growth levels has proven to be a problem in our ecosystem.
2. More food production and livestock are needed for this rise in the population.
B. Article: Pesticides Spark Biodiversity Loss
1. Agricultural pesticides have been linked to widespread invertebrate biodiversity loss.
2. Previous Research shows similar decreases in individual streams.
3. Mikhail Beketov, an aquatic ecologist in

After an 8 year old global commitment to reduce biodiversity loss, Professor Chris Lee speaks at the 2010 International Biodiversity Conference. On the 25th to the 27th of October, Lee makes a speech entitled 'Taking Stock ' to an audience of leading environmental experts and leaders of respective countries. In a formal and direct style Lee contends that not enough has been achieved in the way of reducing biodiversity loss and more needs to be done to prevent further diminishment. Lee 's opening slide has the year '2010 ' with shadows of various animals, a tree and happy people holding hands as holes in the numbers. This sets the opening tone of the piece as a congratulatory speech of achievements and encourages the viewers to listen on.…

Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part of, this includes diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems. Biodiversity in animals have changed over time whether it has been through genetics or adaptations from outside forces, such as ecosystems. The question that has been through multiple assumptions and have been approached many times is: How has biodiversity on Earth changed over time? The question has opened many gates to many different answers, but what does it actually mean? This statement explains how organisms have grown and made adaptations throughout their ecosystems in order…

At present, Earth is experiencing the largest extinction to date, triggered by the increase of human activity in recent decades, which has been made inexorable succeeding population growth, making demands for food and fuel greater than ever. This has led to habitat loss, climate change, overexploitation, pollution and invasive alien species. Biodiversity loss is responsible for destabilizing ecosystems because it weakens their natural cycles, reducing the ecosystem’s productivity. It has impacted both agricultural and pharmaceuticals industries due to their heavy dependence on the environment, resulting in a loss of profit and more importantly, an increased scarcity of food and medicine. Biodiversity loss is occurring at up to 1,000 times…

citizen that saving Earth's endangered species from extinction should be a national concern. Thanks to the press, over the years, a lot of people seem to have gained a general ethical and scientific understanding of the value of biological diversity. This biological diversity, or biodiversity, is a concept that emphasizes the fragile nature of the genetic and social interrelationships of the many varieties of plant and animal life that can be found in any given ecosystem (DiSilvestro, 1993). If one species vanishes, the entire ecosystem may be affected by the loss, in a possibly devastating chain reaction that current science does not presently have the ability to fully predict the outcome…

Preserving endangered species isn’t an unfamiliar concept – everyone has seen the tiger commercials looking for donations, and most people are familiar with the “Save the Whales!” ballyhoo, but the question is: is it as big of a concern as people make it out to be? Some people think no, it’s not because extinction is a natural process that has been occurring since life existed on Earth and that the issue is being exaggerated. However, some people believe it to be one of the major global concerns that we are being faced with today. We rely on plants and animals to clean our air and regulate weather, as well as help to control pests and diseases that infest our crops. Because of our dependency on Earth’s species, people are concerned about the high fluctuation involving the extinction of species and the affects that it will have on in the future.…
