I won't say that losing my Military Identification card was completely out of my control, but even losing it twice can happen obviously. Things happen, we've all lost something before, hell I had lost $75.00 cash before. When I woke up the next day and couldn't find it, I was so pissed, but it happened and there was nothing I could do about it, just had to take it as a loss. I’m only human, and this will not be the last mistake I ever make. However, I won’t make the same mistake over and over again. I am certain that the corrective training I am doing sucks just enough if not more to make me want to ensure to maintain firm awareness of the location of my Military Identification card at all times from now on, which I'm sure was the intention of this corrective training or essay writing. Don't get me wrong a lot of bad things have the potential to occur if my Military Identification were to fall into the wrong hands,people could get hurt and it would be my fualt. Also what I am doing is not punishment, punishment is Uniformed Code of Military Justice, that's something totally different and effects my well being, my career, and a lot more in the long run so I should be fully greatful and fully blessed that I didn’t get a uninformed code of military justice article 15. Corrective training is just that, TRAINING. Mistakes are okay, so long as people don't repeat the same ones and they learn from them. The U.S. army values soldiers that are accountable for their actions. Being accountable means being dependable-arriving to work and appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing at the right time, and making sure you have your i.d. card at all times. Morning formation is the most important formation of the day. It is made to get accountability of everyone and put out any information that there needs to be dealt with. Without having accountability there is no knowing of where everybody is or what's going on. I

    The importance of bringing all equipment to WLC is based solely on being accountable and as a leader that in tells a lot. If you you are not accountable as a leader, it hurts not only yourself, but the platoon, company or unit as a whole.     Accountability is defined as, the obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Though I am aware of the different types of accountability in my case, I failed to ensure one of the most important, which is personal accountability.     Why Accountability in the Army Is Important!

    Accountability is very important in the Army. Accountability is taking responsibility for your actions and your items. By meaning what you say, saying what you mean, and doing what you say, when you say you will do it. By keeping track of all my items and equipment I can always be ready for anything that is needed of me by my country, my superiors, or other servicemen. Being accountable means being dependable. Where my country, my superiors and fellow servicemen can count on me in any situation. to know I will be there to do what is necessary. Taking responsibility for your own actions and equipment is what keeps things running smoothly. And keeps things from turning into utter chaos. Being in formation on time everyday is an prime example of accountability. Formation is where the Army takes accountability of everyone and to get important information out that needs to be dealt with. Without accountability there is no knowing of where everyone is or whats going on. Knowing where your equipment and personal effects are at all times is very important also. By not putting a lock on my wall locker, I was not talking responsibility for my own items, and not doing what I was told to do by my superiors. I was not being responsible. Keeping my items locked and secured is very important now and in the future. As with keeping all sensitive items secured and accounted for later on. Keeping my wall locker locked, keeps accountability of all my items and teaches me to always maintain my equipment, my arms, and myself. Many things could have happened by me failing to adhere to my responsibilities. My wall locker could have been vandalized, or items of mine could have been stolen.     The reason you should always have your proper equipment and be in the proper uniform is because if your not it can result in not being well prepared for the mission, which could ultimately result in mission failure and even worse loss of life. At training today I was unprepared to train today because we were told that if we were gunners that we were required to have a whistle on us at all times today and that it was going to be used to stop intersections and gain peoples' attention, in a combat environment. Today when I did not bring my whistle to training I knowingly disobeyed a lawful order from a noncommissioned officer which could have resulted in UCMJ action. Had I done this I could have possibly been prepared for training, because my Team Leader may have had the equipment for me to use so that I could train properly. Another reason that having your proper equipment is so important is because if today was a real world situation in combat then If we had pulled up to an intersection where a possible VBIED had been then by having my whistle I would have been able to follow the proper procedures for escalating my levels of force because without my whistle I would have not followed the rules of engagement properly which could have resulted in me getting an Article 15 because I did not follow the standard operating procedures. Another Reason that having your equipment is very important is because every piece of equipment you have is vital to mission success and preservation of life.
