Peacemaker Project Sheryl Lloyd Liberty University Introduction At point in my life, this paper would have been easier to write because my issues were easily identifiable. I was a professed Christian who had a hard time forgiving those who hurt me. I would hold grudges against them for long periods of time. However, when I was wrong, I would not apologize but I expected to be forgiving right away. I would always reconcile with the person I offended, but never would I apologize or admit my faults to them. I thought my actions were acceptable because they never seem to end my relationships. I was described as nice and loved by all. People accepted me because my good actions surpassed my bad actions; therefore, I saw no need to change. When I got married, those same skills I developed began to create strife in my home. I didn’t understand the friction because my style worked for me for over 30 years. My husband also fell in love with me because I was nice, caring and loving. The acceptance and love I received form others led me to believe that I was fine and caused me to wonder, what was wrong with my husband. I had a desire to get closer to God but something was hindering me. As I got into my Bible and was prayerful, God used one of my trusted Elders to help me see that I battled with a spirit of pride that caused me to be critical, selfish, and manipulative along with plenty of other ugly things.
Although I still fight this spirit, it does not have the stronghold it use to have over me. I have learned the value of forgiveness and humility through study and understanding of God’s word. It was hard for me to identify a specific conflict because I’ve caused a lot of scars in my marriage with my selfishness, but we have worked through a lot of those issues. If you ask my husband about our relationship, he sincerely believes everything is good, but I know in my heart that I have not given all of me. I want to, but can never

David Seamands book is a refreshing read. It brings to light the fact that there are some problems which cannot be solved by merely pushing spiritual jargon at them but by going deeper to the core of the damaged emotion. It gives a truth which is often ignored, that is ‘acceptance of Jesus Christ does not automatically heal all our emotional issues. He however does not downplay the need for the Christian experience but places emphasis on understanding a person’s needs and hurts in order to help them overcome damaged emotions.…

This is Vanesha Winningham, owner and CEO of Pollcypian Insurance Services. I’m sure you are aware of the many years this company has been contracted to clean for our company. Your company has gotten great reviews from us in the past, but within the last year your service has been far from the usual. When I come in each morning, offices are not cleaned thoroughly; there are many of your chemicals left in some of our busiest hallways, and several other messes throughout my business. I have contacted you several times upon the matter and although you assure me the job will be done correct next time, your company still keeps falling up short. The final straw was on last Friday when your night cleaning shift left our office unlocked. From midnight to 8 AM my facility was susceptible to break-ins, which at this point, I cannot risk happen.…

The article, “Self-forgiveness: The Step-Child of Forgiveness Research”, authored by Julie H. Hall, and Frank D. Fincham, is intended to promote further research into forgiveness. The article identifies the differences (along with the similarities) between interpersonal and intrapersonal forgiveness, and submits that more research has been done in the interpersonal arena, and less research has been directed toward intrapersonal, or self-forgiveness. The authors describe in this article, that unless an offense has been committed, there is no need or reason for forgiveness at all. An offense could be considered a behavior that harms another person; thus interpersonal harm has been done. An offense can also be considered intrapersonal, because any harmful behavior also hurts the perpetrator in some way, (when the offense is recognized as a harmful act) because the guilt that the perpetrator may feel affects his or her own self perception negatively. Behaviors that affect only the perpetrator, such as self-harm, would be considered intrapersonal. Self-forgiveness employs the idea that one must recognize the offense either to self or others, de-personalize the act from the person committing the act, and acceptance of the independence of the person from the act in order to come to terms with it-(the act was bad, I am not bad), and self-forgiveness. The self-forgiveness component relieves the individual of self damnation, and opens the door for positive progression in a more healthy direction.…

The ending of The Grapes of Wrath is solely focused on the final redemptive acts of both John and Rose of Sharon. Their actions make this ending unlike any other of Steinbeck’s novels. In many ways Rose of Sharon was especially in need of redemption up until the very end of The Grapes of Wrath. Throughout the novel, Steinbeck uses John and Rose of Sharon to portray certain themes or represent deeper ideas. In the final chapters, Steinbeck uses them to create a final and concluding sense of redemption.…

The jazz concert I attended took place in Fullerton College Theater on November 13, 2012. The Fullerton College Jazz Big Band and J- Train vocal jazz was very organized and well structured. The first song was the Open Invitation which was performed by the J- Train Vocal Jazz. The song was so interesting because the soloists had great voices. Everyone around seemed interested and amused. The J- train vocal jazz also performed the songs “Nancy McFlannery’s Cannery”, and” Fugue in D Mirror”. My personal favorite by the J-Train Vocal Jazz was “Everyone’s Boppin’” because in the beginning of the song the vocalists scat. In the performance two soloists scat at least one time, and the rest of the choir performers sing the chorus. The beat of the song was fast and the instruments that got a solo were guitar and piano. The guitar and pianos solo were amazing because you could see the relationship the soloist had with its instrument which was extremely passionate. The next song performed was “Big Brown Eyes” which was slow and full of patience. The vocalists sing bebop most of the time, and there are four soloists, the drums are just tapping, and the whole tempo of the song is slow. The big band also performed “The Keystone Shuffle”, the instruments being used were drums, bass, guitar, piano, trombone, and then there was a section of the song where the saxophone players battle each other .Both of the saxophones were going at a very fast beat. The next song performed was “Out of Town” which starts with the drums and guitar as bass. The saxophone player joins in and the whole band starts to plays together. They were all on point with each other which made the song easy to listen to. The piano, the saxophone had individual solos and in between the song there was interaction between the two. The concert was very entertaining; I really enjoyed the J-Train and Big Band. Everyone around seemed to enjoy it as well. It was sweet of the big band to dedicate the…

The story then shifts to the present in which the author is now 17 and is returning once again to her grandparent’s house to help them pack. The basement was the author’s tree. The foundation of her dreams and memories. “ That last summer I found myself, much to Mike’s disappointment, quite mature, quite…

In order to heal I had to just let go of the past and let God take care of the rest. When I did find the one guy, he was a lot older and crippled. I forgave him only for my own sense of peace, and I felt like I could finally be free, and that I could move on forward with my life, I was no longer bound to that anger and pain no more. As for the one other one, well I was never able to tell him that I forgave him personally, but I knew in my heart I had forgiven him as well. When I decided to forgive both of those men for the wrongs they had done to me, I just could feel an instant sense of relief, a freedom from the bondage of anger and sadness. I was finally able to let it all go. Then I began to finally feel like myself again. I felt like the old me, and it was a feeling that I had missed and had longed for so long. I know that some people are not able to forgive others for things like what those men had done, but for myself, I needed, wanted and had to forgive, in order to find peace. I knew that if I did not find forgiveness for them, not only would I never find peace in my life, but I knew that I would not make it into heaven, if I had not found a way to forgive them. I knew God had forgiven me for my wrongs and I had done plenty, and who was I not to forgive them if I am child of God? If I…
