In the play A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare, a character named Oberon tells a character named Puck to put a love potion in the Athenian man eye. Unbeknownst to them, there were two Athenian men in the forest at the time: Lysander and Demetrius. Puck then puts the potion in the eyes of the wrong man--Lysander. The potion makes someone fall in love with someone and this has caused anger between Demetrius, Helena , Hermia, and Lysander. Why was it called a love potion?
