The purpose of this science experiment was to discover under what conditions can blood give a false result using the presumptive test called luminol. In order to better grasp the experiment, research was conducted on several subtopics: the basic concept of luminol, the basic concept of artificial blood which is being used for this experiment instead of legitimate blood, and substances interferences that could tamper with crime scene results. While the process of the luminol test is quite simplistic, the following research was done in order to even further broaden previous knowledge and deepen understanding in order to produce the most accurate experiment possible. The research done led to the reader to a conclusion that there are substances that can affect luminol results. As the focus of this study was centered on the concept of luminol, much of the research was directed towards that subtopic. Luminol is one of many tests that crime scene …show more content…
It's important to know how blood plays a role in a crime scene because not all evidence is visible to the naked eye (Karapazarlioglu, 2015). In this research article there are case studies that revealed how luminol revealed non-visible blood that revealed how a crime played out, as well as the victims and perpetrators involved. So to fully comprehend the science experiment, research was gathered around how artificial blood works. Using artificial blood instead of real blood has many benefits to this experiment; effective use for the academic learning community, can be a stored for over a year, and removes the possibility of getting infected by disease-causing agents (Sarkar, 2008). This will allow for better understanding how luminol reacts to blood in a safe, hands-on, learning environment, instead of a probably real life
