The other races who answer our survey (in decreasing order) are Hispanic, white, and other. They were around the age of 14 to 16, and are (in decreasing order) Christian, catholic, Muslim, atheist, or other. Every student who took our survey knew what a period was. A period normally lasted from 3 to 7 days and the majority of students knew this. Five and seven days were the highest answer with 34.2% (13 students). The majority of students learned about periods from a family member. One student learned about periods from the American Girl's "The Care and Keeping of You" book. Other students learned from (in decreasing order) school, friend, other, and the internet. Every student who took our survey said females can also use pads from the period. Other answers included menstruation cup or panty liners. The overall majority of 10th graders in AHS are knowledge about the basic of periods. Majority with 81.6% (31 students) believe tampons are important. 60.5% (23 students) believed tampons should be given at school. 55.3% (22 students) know tampons are taxed as a luxury. To my surprise, 4 students who know about the luxury taxed but still believe tampons should not be given in school and 3 students out of those 4 believe tampons are important.
