Harry Truman was very patriotic to the United States. Truman never gave up on the war, letting Nazism, Communism, and Socialism spread. The policy he used during this time is now known as containment, and is still used to this day. Lyndon Johnson was patriotic to the United States as well. He had an idea to revitalize the country, known as “The Great Society.” He pushed for the idea of a more perfect country through this, and made the country better through this. Adolf Hitler had as much patriotism as any leader, maybe even more. The start to his rise to power was started because he wanted to regain Germany’s pride, lost at the end of WWI. Even during the Holocaust, he never lost sight on rebuilding Germany to its former glory. This is the most important characteristic any leader needs to become great, as this is what we use to determine if that person will lead us in our own way, whether it be the American or German
