There was a large doorway in the back of the hall and all three characters, Gentlewoman, Doctor, and Lady Macbeth, played their part mostly in the center of the set. The setting was an adverse factor for me, because I expected Lady Macbeth to walk out of the room and wander around the whole castle, the setting limited Lady Macbeth’s movements. One of the reasons for this kind of setting is to exhibit the exact drama that went in Shakespearian era. The place itself is kept dark and gloomy. Darkness represents the fearful night of Lady Macbeth with fears and also the fear of doctor and gentlewoman. There is some light in the background with some fog; this could display how her life was better in the past, but it is hard to go back, fog. The scene starts off with a close up of Gentlewoman and the Doctor conversing about Lady Macbeth’s condition. Then, Lady Macbeth enters from behind the stage, shown from a wide angle shot including all three characters. As Lady Macbeth speaks, the camera mainly focuses on her, her face and reactions as she is wandering around the room on the set. Lady Macbeth never goes out of the screen, even when Gentlewoman and Doctor talk. Not only Lady Macbeth is important in the scene, the reaction of Doctor and Gentlewoman is also important for their future effect on Macbeth’s kingship. The scene lack background music. The purpose of no music is to demonstrate the seriousness of the scene
