The witches whisper, “Something wicked comes this way” (IV.i.45). In this moment they are talking about Macbeth. They think that he is evil and means no good. The witches know everything that he has done. They know that he is going to continue to kill until he is king and does not have to worry about anyone taking that power away from him. The witches believe that he is going to do more harm because they can see into the future. Macbeth is listening to the apparitions of the witches and believe that no one can harm him. The witches predict, “For none of woman born / Shall harm Macbeth” (IV.i.80-81). This informed him that no one can harm him because they have all been born from woman. He is believing the witches and continuing to think that he will always be king. Macbeth is determining his fate by believing everything they have told him. Witches may be able to see into the future, but that does not mean that they are telling the truth as they are talking with Macbeth. He had went and killed all of Macduff’s family because he fled to England after Duncan’s murder. Macbeth finally realizes what he was done and decides not to kill Macduff. He states, “Of all men else I have avoided thee, But / Get thee back! My soul is too much charged / With blood of thine already” (V.viii.4-6). Macbeth is saying that he has done so much harm already and he does not think that killing him will help his conscience or guilt. This was a bad decision for Macbeth, because it has caused him to get killed by Macduff. If he would have killed Macduff he would still be king and alive. Malcolm would not become king and Macduff would not be alive. Macbeth has a lot of guilt; if he wants the power he will kill anyone that gets in his way and Macduff is in his way. He has decided that fate is not on his side and he should stop killing
