Madeleine Albright Speech At Farmers School Business
Madeleine Albright speech at Farmers School Business
Introduction
Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright took time out of her busy schedule to address students at the Miami University’s Farmers School of Business a month to the election of America's new president. From the video, it can be pointed out that she was concerned with the issues of foreign policy the president will face. I agree with her on the fact that one has to be tolerant and ready to corporate with other people in realizing of set objectives.
Body
The speech delivered by the former secretary of state can be viewed as a light-hearted one but the points put forward are a challenge to what the country faces, and the incoming president will also inherit them. If not

Barefoot Gen: A Cartoon History Oh Hiroshima1 is written to show Keiji Nakazawa’s own ideas on peace and how the world needs to live peacefully together. The story is about Keiji’s alter ego Gen’s life before the atomic bomb was dropped on his hometown of Hiroshima. Gen and his family are poor civilians living in Hiroshima who are under the constant burden of the town officials, the citizens of the town, and the hunger that plagues all of them. When Gen’s father is accused of being a traitor to the Japanese government life for them gets even tougher. When the bomb drops at the end of the story all that are left is Gen, his mother, and his newly born baby sister. Gen has to face the harsh realities of war at a very young age and has to become the man his father wanted him to be. Barefoot Gen is written as a first hand account about what civilian life was like for the people of japan during World War II. Also there are many themes in this book including power, and loyalty. Each one is shown by either the Japanese Government or by Gens own family. Also symbolism plays a big part in this story like the name Keiji picked for himself, the wheat that Gen and his family grow, and the sun that appears in the book many times.…

Throughout the speech Trump listed examples such as the trade deficit, poor infrastructure and the destruction of American values. With each example given, Trump outlined how America has fallen from its once glorious ‘silver eagle’ status. America has always been the country that the world looks up to as being at the forefront of humanistic values such as innovation, integrity, free speech and religion. Trumps ideas of how America has fallen evokes a concern for what most citizens’ see as true American principle and doctrine. Trumps use of language to alarm the public is in general an attempt to illustrate the loss of American…

In the opening Roosevelt stresses that we are a strong, powerful country and he then goes on to talk about things foreign and domestic. When he is talking of other countries, he takes two different approaches. First, he makes the point that we have are a great nation with responsibilities and that with any other country, we need a “sincere friendship” in our actions, not just in our words. He continues that we want peace but “peace of justice” and that no “weak nation that acts justly” should fear us but also no strong power should be able to single us out “for aggression”. Roosevelt then goes back to how important the relationship we have with our own neighbors is in order to grow in wealth and power. He accepts the fact that with power danger comes and that we will face more challenges than those before us because modern life keeps advancing and with advances come new obstacles. This goes along with why he states, “There is no good reason why we should fear the future, but there is every reason why we should face it seriously, neither hiding from ourselves the gravity of the problems before us nor fearing to approach these problems with the unbending, unflinching purpose to solve them aright,” and this shows that his attitude on the manner is that we should be excited but prepared. He also states that “Our fore fathers faced certain perils which we have…

“Our subject was some of the problems that beset our world”(Eisenhower para 1) Eisenhower was having a conference with the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of Great Britain and France. This is a great use of Ethos, credibility, talking about the problems going on in the world. It was also a great way to open up his speech and bring in his audience. Eisenhower also says “Never before in history has so much hope for so many people been gathered together in a single organization. Your deliberations and decisions during these somber years have already realized part of those hopes.”(Eisenhower para 3) He is using pathos and logos, emotions of hope and logical of numbers, to make the assembly aware that they gathered together in hope of peace and hope for better to come. Eisenhower also states “... the United States will remain steadfast in its support of this body. This we shall do in the conviction you will provide a great share of the wisdom, of the courage, and the faith which can bring to this world lasting peace for all nation, and happiness and…

On February 12th, 2013 President Barack Obama gave his state of the union address to the nation, the first of this year and since his re-election. I had mixed feelings about this speech as I go into that in more detail later. I like the general direction of where Obama was trying to go with it but I must say that I did have a few points that I disagreed with that he presented. But some of the major things which I did like was the minimum wage increase and talks about gun control. I am going to just run down some of the main points which I either liked or disliked that Obama states.…

Judith Beveridge is a poet of great detail. Her poems are written with strong use of language. Strong imagery of her observations and contrasts of her views help create her poems meaning and effect on the reader. The session that I attended was Dolores Huerta speech, which was very interesting. Dolores Huerta was born on April 10, 1930, she is a labor leader and civil rights activist who, along with Cesar Chavez, co-founded the national Farmworkers association, which later became the United Farm Workers (UFW). Huerta has received numerous awards for her community service and advocacy for workers, immigrants, and women’s rights. She is truly a leader, working tirelessly to help the poor and women and children. She talks about war, genocide, Mass incarceration, and poverty. During her participation in non-violent protest she was arrested 22 times trying to make changes in society. Her main question was what can we do as people to solve things in the world? Putting political issues on politicians. She talks about how change comes from the bottom, people have to be responsible because at the end of the day no one is going to make changes for us we as people have to make them for ourselves.…

In Michelle Obama’s speech “Remarks to the NAACP National Convention,” she laments that childhood obesity is a serious issue in America today, back when she was young children were always out playing and being active, nowadays children would rather sit inside and play video games then do anything else. Since most children are seldom most of the time and spend hours upon hours watching television “every extra hour of TV they watch is associated with the consumption of an additional 167 calories.” (423). Children aren’t just becoming lazier, they’re actually becoming more and more unhealthy as time goes on developing “diabetes and cancer, heart disease, asthma.” (420). In an effort to try and help fix childhood obesity Obama launched the “Let’s Move” campaign, which even features commercials on Disney Channel showing the Disney celebrities outside playing some kind of physical activity. The four main points to this campaign are; The first one consists of giving parents knowledge to give their children healthy food not fast food. The second point states that the government is attempting to replace fatty foods in schools with healthier options, regardless of how the children will feel about it. The third part of the campaign is just trying to show children that being active actually is fun, it doesn’t just have to be challenging. The final point Obamas’ campaign states is that all families no matter what their income is, wealthy or struggling, should have the ability to get fresh and healthy food without breaking the bank.…
