As stated before, Clinton received more than 3 million more total votes than Donald Trump did. His faux victory was achieved due to victories in key electoral states, specifically Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin. (1) Trump won these electoral votes because he was able to win large support among white, blue collar workers. This population of America, often referred to as the “Silent Majority”, liked Trump’s rhetoric and policy promises. Trump’s personality and actions are reflective of these people; many of them are abrasive and dislike the political correctness that comes with public office. The “humor” and personality that Trump brought to the political stage was so entertaining for them that they followed his political reality show like a cult, and voted in droves.
