This play shows being different in many ways such as, How the blacks had to go to different schools then the whites. This represents the theme of being different because it wasn’t fair with how all of the kids were treated. All because of their color they were known being different from the others and the blacks were not able to get the excellent education that the whites got. The blacks had to go to the bathroom in different places, they needed to wait in different waiting rooms and they needed to sit on a different sides of the bus. Away from the whites. They both show this theme but they represent this theme differently. In the poem, “Making Sarah Cry” she was being bullied for how she acted and how she looked. In the play the blacks fought for their equal rights and didn’t give up. The poem was trying to show being different because of how she looked. The statement that it was trying to get across was just to not bully anyone no matter how they look. In the play the blacks were not being bullied but they were being treated with segregation. The statement that this play was trying to get across was that everyone should have equal rights and should be treated fairly.
