Departmentalization is the dividing of an organization functions into subgroups or departments. The advantages of this structure is the fact that each department will focus and practice on one specific job which helps to enable employees to work together efficiently and it also helps to save cost. The disadvantages to departmentalization would be the lack of communication between the different departments, and people not being trained properly for the positions that they are in.
Matrix organization this s a structure that is atypical because it brings employees and managers together from different departments working towards accomplishing a goal. The advantages of this structure is that it pools people together who have the same skills to work in a specific area. It also helps to coordinate resources in a way that helps them effectively on different projects and information is flowing throughout the organization from top to bottom. The disadvantages of this structure is that so many problems can arise as well as conflicts within the group.
Project team this structure is when smaller groups are created within larger groups to work on certain tasks or issues. The advantages of this structure is that the group can bring fresh and new ideas to the team. The teams will show diversity through their ideas for their clients and for management, the disadvantages to this structure is that many problems and conflicts can arise due to people not agreeing with one another which can also cause the company to lose money.
Collegial model the collegial model is the freedom of discussion and freedom of decision making. The advantages of this structure is that it lacks authoritarian rule over those who debate issues. The disadvantages of this structure is that everyone is seeking to voice
