Managing the Homework Frequency
"Too much and too little of anything is bad. The why are students being given too much of homework these days? The trend shows that the amount of homework being given to the children has been continuously and significantly enhancing over the time since last few years. Yes, making the students learn well is important but that shouldn't be combined with the pressure and burden on them. But also, it is something you cannot avoid and hence you need to learn how to manage the same. You need to develop capabilities and abilities so that you can manage your homework well and so that you can do your homework without complaining and that too in an efficient manner.

One thing that you need to manage with the quantum of homework is the homework frequency. Homework frequency is the time at which the teachers assign you homework. Some teachers tend to assign homework extremely frequently and at extremely small gaps of time. This also becomes problematic because a reduction in the frequency leads to too much homework and ultimately you get frustrated and tired of doing it all the time. Thus, you need to make sure that you are getting homework at the right intervals so that you can also utilize the time and do all your assignments properly instead of rushing through them. Managing the homework frequency will save you a lot of time and you will be able to do even the smallest of things in a more appropriate way. If the teacher keeps bombarding you with lot of homework on a daily basis, you will not be able to complete the same on time and in a rush, you might not even do half the things properly and no help on homework will also prove beneficial at that time.

So, the first thing you need to do for managing homework frequency is to talk to your teachers. If you feel that the frequency is becoming too much and it is causing tension and pressure, then you can easily discuss the same with your teachers and tell them about your problems. I am sure they will understand your point

"Nothing in this world is simple and easy to accomplish. Even opening your eyes is a task in itself and needs efforts and synchronization to accomplish completely. And for things that are slightly more difficult than the normal tasks, it is more important to develop and adopt strategies so that you are able to do it on time and in a more efficient manner. Homework also falls in this category because it is quite difficult to do your homework timely because usually the quantum of homework is much more than the time available to the students. And hence it is essential that you take help on homework and adopt all other possible strategies for being able to do your homework on time. Homework is even actually quite similar to any sport that you play and all you sportsmen would relate extremely well to this corollary and can understand the sentiments behind the same.…

Some people say that homework is helpful for subject enhancement in students, however others may say homework is not very helpful and instead is a stressor for students. As a result, there is much debate on the topic of homework. Here at Culver City Middle School, there isn’t a homework policy, which leads to either too little homework or too much homework. What can teachers do to prevent students from having too much homework? What type of planning is required? Are there implications for staff planning time? The first step teachers can take to not giving students too much homework is making sure that the homework is a review of earlier lessons. “Homework gives students a chance to practice skills learned in one setting at one time(school) in another setting at a different time(home) (Slavin pg.201). To begin with, homework is taking way family time and fun time from students. Because students get a lot of homework they no longer have time to spend time with their family or have their own free time. For instance, in the article titled “5 Reasons Why Homework is Bad for Your Child,” the author states, “Children need time to spend with their family, catch up with friends and attend extracurricular activities so they can refresh their minds and bodies.” The reasons that are stated in the article specifically, are examples of how homework takes away family time. School is supposed to only take up to 6 hours but with homework it no longer take 6 hours of school work but more. Therefore, students don’t have enough time to do there own things.…

How are they supposed to complete hours worth of homework, as well as complete other activities that they are committed to? And on top of that, the student is expected to have at least 8 hours of sleep per day. Homework is preventing students from leading an active lifestyle, which therefore is harmful to their bodies. According to Stats Canada, about 72% of parents found that homework was often a source of household stress (Survey of Canadian Attitudes toward Learning). That is due to the fact that students are put under great pressure from teachers and parents. Unnecessary assignments could raise the stress level of the student, which can potentially lower productivity and performance, rather than raise it. Distress, which is stress that continues without relief, can lead to symptoms such as headaches, migraines, and high blood…

In the article “Special Topic/ The Case For and Against Homework,” Robert J. Marzano and Debra J. Pickering argue that there are indications of the usefulness in homework when engaged accurately. Marzano and Pickering’s research focuses on not only the case for homework but the case against homework as well. They base their report on synthesis studies that had been carried out. One of the synthesis, Cooper, reported that the benefits of homework increases as the time spent on homework increases (qtd. In Marzano and Pickering 2). According to the authors, the quality of homework over the quantity of it is rather more important. In the Cooper synthesis a cogent percentage of the report on homework showed that absolute effects of homework correlates to the amount of homework that the students completes rather than the amount of time spent or the amount of homework actually assigned (Marzano and Pickering 1-5).…

    Too Much Homework

I decided to do my project on the amount of homework students receive and how it is affecting their interpersonal relationships. Most of us have siblings, relatives or kids in grade school and can relate to this issue. We can all agree that they generally receive too much homework and it is causing them a lot of stress. Homework can be both good and bad. Some homework help reinforce the material already covered in class room while others are just worksheets and drill work. The truth is that students usually receive “busy work” more often than actually helpful homework. It takes up so much of their time that they practically have no time to spend with their family. Sometimes, homework gets so hard that the parents get involved. This can create a lot of stress on families. We all know that some projects elementary and middle school students receive usually cannot be done without a considerable amount of help from their parents. According to Mr. Baker, a researcher and professor of education and sociology, “increasing homework loads is likely to aggravate tensions within the family, thereby generating more inequality and eroding the quality of overall education”. I don’t think it is worth it to have so much stress and tension in the family in the name of homework.…

Imagine being in a student’s shoes, going to class and sitting there listening to the teacher talk and trying not to fall asleep because the teacher is doing all the work, while students pay attention. Some students get drained during class time because they are not being physically and mentally involved. I believe schools should require the long-term assignments over short-term assignments. Long-term assignments are easier on the student, students tend to learn a lot more, and it teaches the students soft skills.…

They are bombarded with more and more homework but there is only one solution to the same. You should always discuss this issue with your teachers and make them understand that you have only limited amount of time because if you push yourself too hard, you won't be interested in the learning anymore. Even in situations when your understanding is not very clear, homework tends to become a problem.…

Nowadays, homework is becoming a daily food for many students. In several schools, the teachers give homework to their students almost every day. But, only a few of studentswho finish their homework and submit it to the teacher on time, and the rest are not. Most of students think that homework is not necessary for them. They wonder why their teachers often give them homework such as worksheets and short essays rather than giving an assignment directly in the classroom. Most of them choose to do things such as make a group and study together outside the classroom or others things except doing homework. Some of them will skip the class just because they have not finished the homework yet, and also it will make them to become more lazy and lazy students. Too much homework is a very important issue and topic because kids don’t have the opportunity to be kids anymore because of homework; kids can’t go to sports and do extracurricular activities. Nowadays, too much homework is over whelming and it has come to the point that when kids come home from school the first thing they do is homework and the last thing they do before they go to bed is homework. The National Education Association recommends that kids have a total of ten minutes per grade level of homework per night. Anything above that is excessive.…

Homework is an infringement on family time. Many of the big media that would otherwise say that homework is important also decry the fact that kids aren’t spending enough time talking with their families. It is not possible to create an atmosphere of deep family connection when the parents and the students are all working three or four hours a night at home. You need many hours’ together, playing games, reading books, fixing the house together, going to movies, cooking for friends to have a balanced family life. Being together only on weekends is a crime.…
