Why does the word mandatory is so controversial? The word mandatory might cause disagreement among persons, though, it might actually not be a terrible idea when it comes to public service. In this particular scenario, civic service does not necessarily signify military service, for example, it could suggest activities such as tutoring and mentoring, teach computer skills, clean parks and streams, manage or operate after-school programs, and help communities to respond to accidental or natural disasters. There has been some proposal to implement a plan to encourage young adults to become involved in community service. For instance, a ten-point plan for creating a universal national service, and the government buying a “baby bound” for every American newborn, maturing to around nineteen thousand dollars by the time the baby reached young adulthood. The only requirement in this specific idea is one year of dedicated national service. Citizens of the United States perceive the people working in the military as heroes, because that’s what they are, they make sure America is safe from outside and inside threats.
