Case 7.1 discusses March Madness and how it is an exciting time for NCAA basketball fans. These games are exciting for fans because there are those that cheer for schools that make deep runs into their bracket. Even though these NCAA are exciting for some individuals and these fans are going to want to watch the games, it may cause a problem in the workplace. These fans try to watch the games at work during normal working hours. If I was a supervisor and I suspected many of my employees were watching significant parts of the games during normal working hours, I would respond to them by first making sure that they are staying on task with their work.
Apparently, there are many ways for employees to watch the game even if you did restrict access

But he also points out that he also puts in a lot of overtime and some places he needs to go are closed when he gets off work and asked the question if there was ever an issue with the quality and timeliness of his work. I believe this worker has a right to such expectations in the workplace because as a leader you have to be understanding of the needs of your workers; after all, we all are adults and we still have personal business to take care of. Beyond Integrity sheds light on this situation by expressing how it is believed that a manager needs to get very good at assessing the value of the work that is done and the way in which a person affects the work environment. The nature of work makes a difference about the need for the availability and time on task. So before you go installing monitoring tools, you have to look at the big picture and dictate whether it is appropriate to use such monitoring tools and if it is used, it is important that management is clear that they will be used. A key thing to remember is that open communicate is a must if you want to maintain trust among your employees. Managers should keep in mind Philippians 2:3-4 that says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the
