Marcus Competitor

Marcus is a natural competitor. This characteristic motivated him to study thoroughly before tests and to be perfect during them. It helped him to achieve top rankings multiple times in math competitions. He had to deal with enormous amounts of stress to maintain a top ranking, but his competitive spirit tends to make him less cooperative with others. To resolve this problem, he joined Boy Scout Troop 626. He is currently a patrol leader. He serves younger scouts, cooperates with other patrol leaders, and follows adult leaders.

Marcus seems to know about computers. He knows more than I do, therefore it is difficult for me to measure how much he knows about computers. He is in charge of updating and fixing all computers in the household. I think that this passion was from self-motivation and for his own pleasure.
Marcus goes to Northside College Preparatory High School, which is one of the best high schools in Chicago.
Marcus is taking an advanced math class that would normally be taken by 11th grade students. Even in this class, Marcus told me he understood everything that was taught. I learned Marcus’ math teacher wanted him to assist her by helping his classmates. In his school, physics is assigned to freshman without any options to take any placement tests. The course is not even based in Algebra. Marcus and I hoped to find another advanced option to learn more math and
science.

If Marcus is admitted to IMSA, I have confidence that Marcus will try his best in all of his classes, especially classes in math, science, and technology.
