How would you imagine your life as a king or queen in the 1700’s? Surely you would love to have royalty but that’s not the whole point of it. Marie Antoinette, born in Vienna, Austria, in 1755, became Queen of France at the age of 19! She married Louis the XVI(16) when she was just 15 years old, a man she never knew just because governments were interested in forming alliances with other countries which meant to unite their leaders with the offspring of other royalty. Marie Antoinette loved children and eagerly looked forward to motherhood but took eight years to have children. Afterwards, she had another child, a boy, Louis-Joseph the first son of the family. But Joseph died at a young age of tuberculosis on 4th of June 1789. On October 1793, Marie Antoinette was accused by the revolutionary tribute of sexually abusing her eight-year-old son. Failed to respond but faced the crowded courtroom saying” If I do not respond, it is because nature refuses to answer such a charge made to a mother. But Marie marriage with Louis was very disappointing; he should have talked about his condition instead of just taking criticism. Additionally, Marie Antoinette loved children and would do anything in her power to protect them all cost! Afterwards, Marie Antoinette’s significance was mainly, powerfully symbolic. She and the people around her seemed to represent everything that was wrong with the monarchy and the Second Estate: They appeared to be tone-deaf, out of touch, disloyal and self-interested.
