Many of the scientists published their findings in a French medical journal in 1809. This journal initiated the interest of marijuana in the medical field, and in the public. Other scientists have published journals and studies about the medical and therapeutic uses of marijuana since the early 1800’s and has been useful in treatment in many common contagious diseases, such as rabies, cholera, and tetanus. Nowadays, marijuana has been found to be helpful in more medical conditions than I can list on this paper. Colorado has demonstrated one of those benefits, which was a huge economic boost. The taxes that were placed on marijuana raised to much money that the local governments gave roughly 40 million dollars of “pot-money” to the schools and extra-curricular activities. More than just generate more money for schools, the legalization of marijuana has also decreases the presence of illegal dealers and gang affiliations in marijuana use. With every good thing, there must be a downside. The downside of marijuana legalization isn’t in the states where it is legalized though. Rather, they can be found in the states bordering the legal states.
