Mariska Haitay: I Want To Become An Advocate
Anybody can become an advocate. An advocate is a person who protects her/his rights or change the unfair or abusive treatment, and try to equal their fair treatment. An Advocate needs to closely listen and take information. You have to know your own weaknesses and strongest. You have to become confidence inside with the positive feeling that may become an approach towards the children and their case. Advocates has to find the empathy in themselves. With that trait you may gain more information from your client which the trait communication will come in handy. You have to have patience like all the famous advocates because you have to be prepared to know your setbacks and know your energy. You have to know all your the knowledge like the famous

Marian Wright Edelman. Many respects others in the giving to the privacy for the children; also respect the rules that comes with it. All advocates have to be truthful to their potential clients and has to polite. The last thing I believe makes a good advocate is making a good build relationship with others.
Erin Merryn is a case advocate for prohibiting child sexual abuse. She wants to protect the rights of the children and help children become empowered. She became an advocate because of her experience during her childhood. She was sexual abuse by a neighbor near the beginning age of her childhood. She didn’t know how to really voice her pain about the experience so she wrote it down in her diary. She almost kept it in until her sister told her about her experience with the same exact neighbor. Erin spoke up about the rape to her parents, but she didn’t feel like a weight's been lifted off her shoulders yet. She felt like the society is not taking notice to the crimes that are happening to children from 1 to 10 chances. Erin made a law to insure children that are taught or instructed to protect themselves and that law is called the Erin’s Law. “Erin's law provides age appropriate curriculum for kids on personal body safety in Pre-K through 12th grade. Educating kids on safe touch, unsafe touch, safe secrets, unsafe secrets, how to get away and tell today if they are being sexually abused.” This law succeeded in 12 states and is pending in 6 other states, and it helps power children to get a voice instead of keeping their voice in.
Marian Wright Edelman is a case advocate also. She is an activist for the protection of the rights of the children. She obtained the knowledge from going to college and beginning with the study of law at Yale Law School. She has the patience in order to succeed in her goals. What makes a good advocate is when she takes the time and patience in so in order to have the research she put forth in her job and in her heart. She begins her research when she was enrolled and started to study law at Yale Law School. While she was practicing law at multiple schools, she founded the business called Children's Defense Fund for her to be a voice for the children of all sizes, ages, and even for the disabilities.“The challenge of social justice is to evoke a sense of community that we need to make our nation a better place, just as we make it a safer place.” The business bring forward for her predicting to end poverty. The business help with the researching and observing children issues, taking the problems for the children and finding the solution to them . This organization impacted children's lives because this organization saves lives by lifting children out of their abusive homes, protecting them and ensure them for their rights. The following person who shows what a good advocate is Dr. Robert McCormick. He began his major in spanish when he came to montclair state university but, quickly changed his major because his heart wasn’t in it. He started working at the hospital called Beth-Israel Medical Center, shortly after he met a patient named Jamal who had to get a kidney transplant. After Jammal died , He began his practice in child and family studies where he accomplished evaluations on mis abused children. His heart, mind, and studies was in his work and he became an advocate for public child welfare system. His work impacted colleague's lives because he created the major called Child Advocacy (B.A) which catch millions of eyes for their career. “It includes social work to be sure, but also embraces psychology, law, sociology and medicine”
When I was a little girl, I always wanted to help people or impact people’s lives but I never know how.
My path to picking my major was very hard because it was stirring me in so many directions. My first direction was forensic science and then my second direction was being a runner back. I had so many ideas and thoughts that I really didn’t know how to use it, until I wanted to advocate and become something. My future career job is being a social worker in a department for the SVU unit. I always want to be Mariska Hargitay because she has the meaning of being an advocate for something she has her heart in it. I plan on being a case advocate because I plan to advocate for abused or misused children in bad environments. I want to be a social worker for that type of group or teens also. Before being introduced to the individuals listed above,, I really didn’t know any child advocates that stand for something that is right . I been living under a rock because Erin Merryn is a recent advocate that trying to promote her law for the safety of the children. They changed my views on the term of child advocates and what does advocacy means in general. When I read all of the individual’s stories, I was really inspired to do something right and make a change for the lives of others. If my future job become real, all I could do is become something useful in my
