MARKETING PLAN 2

Marketing Plan Proposal-Rationale

The student writer is offering a marketing plan involving a new for profit Pet Care service.

From late 2006 to 2009 I began a private consulting business so there is some inherent experience

with the administrative set up of a private business. While unplanned, I quickly learned how to

market my services to local and out of state government, nonprofit and private businesses. While the

Pet Care service is hypothetical and experiential in nature for the purposes of developing an

academic related strategic marketing plan I will utilize my prior experiences for this business startup.

Why a Pet Care service: I grew up with nearly every kind of animal: horses, rabbits, ducks,

cows, dogs, chickens, geese, cats, goats, donkeys, hamsters, turtles, and even a turkey. While other

family members considered there to be another primary purpose to raising and maintaining these

animals, I considered them to be “pets”. In my adult years I have owned less of a variety of animals

but have always had some pets. Currently, I have six cats. Some of these cats were adopted as a

result of my volunteer rescue work. Many of my friends, family members and colleagues have

always commented about my extensive knowledge base and vast ability to relate to animals. Many

have even said if they were to pass away they would want to come back as one of my pets. My

current federal government job takes me out of town at least three to four times per year. This work

schedule plus my desire to travel out of

A Service Animal is any signal dog, guide dog, or other animal trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities. The main purposes of service animals are to guide, pick up, fetch, or act as a medic alert for people who are disabled. These animals also can “help a person with a physical or psychological disability to live more independent, healthier, happier, or more mobile life” (Persels). Service dogs are the most common service animal used to help the disabled, however with the rise of alternative service animals that just might change. There are many different types of alternative animals like snakes, miniature horses, chimpanzees, capuchin monkey, ferrets, pigs, goats, ponies and etc. Yet there are many difficulties that alternative service animals and owners face. People who have alternative animals should be concerned about the risk factors of owning non-traditional service animals.…

Furthermore, aside from the use I give non-human animals for dietary or fashion purposes, I also utilize non-human animals for recreational purposes. Having lived in Miami for well over a decade now, I have developed a passion for recreational fishing, where I also make use of non-human animals. While the fishing can be somewhat of a more cruel relationship with non-human animals, I also have very tender relationships with some; in fact, I consider myself to be a huge dog lover. My former employers, who are also close to being family, have two dogs, two cats, and a parrot at their home. Through my time as their employee and friend I developed a friendship with these non-human animals that remains strong today. Whenever my former bosses go out of town, I make sure the animals are fed and taken care of with a lot of pleasure.…

Service dog training is like being a teacher but for dogs. I believe this job to be solely for the purpose of training dogs for a good cause, not to make great sums of money. It requires a teaching degree, and a few years of apprenticeship. To get to a higher salary than what is started with it may take a year or two until one is considered an experienced dog trainer, and getting into the dog training field should be fairly easy, the job outlook is in good shape. Though this job makes little money I believe what Ray Bradbury said “Love what you do and do what you…

There is an overwhelming amount of pet euthanizations in the United States each year. While these numbers are gradually declining, there is still a superfluous amount of animals who are put to death in order for animal shelters to save resources and space. The aid of having no-kill animal shelters in communities is a topic that has been debated for years. The absence of a no-kill animal shelters in Caldwell County is astounding, and quite frankly, a problem that has endured for too long. However, this decline in animal euthanization raises an additional question. What do we do with the overpopulation of animals? How do we thwart the euthanization of millions of animals without inducing a substantial increase in stray pets?…

Adoption of a well trained dog can be very beneficial to their human caretakers in terms such as lower blood pressure, guiding the blind, therapy assistance, and even saving a life. Owning an animal for some provides a stronger bond than that of family members, as families become increasingly dysfunctional. For those people who wish to adopt a specific breed of dog, their wishes can be fulfilled by checking with breed-specific adoption groups as well as leaving special requests with their local shelter. Adoption of cats is also important, however, the focus of this paper will be on dogs. Adoption of animals helps to decrease euthanasia rates, the rate at which healthy animals are killed because they are unwanted.…

Over the course of time it has been noted that pets may have a special role in the healthy development of children. This is given the changing demographics, including divorce rates and the decreasing size of families in many developed countries; pets may take on even greater social and emotional importance within families. One startling statistic is that children are more likely to grow up with a pet than with a father in the home. (WALTHAM ® pocket book of human-animal interactions (2015) (Ch, 2 p,…
