Martin Bormann During World War Two, Adolf Hitler had many people that accompanied him through the extensive amount of crimes against people he committed. One was Martin Bormann. For many decades there has been mystery and controversy surrounding the death of Martin Bormann. Some say that his death is still unsolved today although, evidence and data tests say otherwise. Martin Bormann was born on June 17, 1900 in Halberstadt, Germany (Trueman). He was the son of Theodor Bormann, a post office employee, and his second wife, Antonie Bernhardine Mennong. Antonie Bormann gave birth to three sons. Only two survived, Martin and Albert Bormann. Bormann dropped out of school to work on a farm in Mecklenberg. He served in the military during the last days of World War One, however never saw action (Trueman). After the War was over, Bormann joined the Freikorps. He was then involved in the murder of Walther Kadow and sent to prison for a year.
Martin Bormann played a key role in the systematic persecution and execution of Jews during the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler came to trust Bormann after he worked his way up the Nazi hierarchy. He became Hitler’s right-hand man. Bormann took charge of all of Hitler’s paperwork, appointments, and personal finances. Hitler was said to have screamed during a speech, “To win this war, I need Bormann!” Martin Bormann became one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany beside Hitler.
