When people think about the Civil Rights Movement they think of Martin Luther King and people like Rosa Parks, people who stood up for their rights. There's more to it though. He inspired others, then and now. Many people who have done important things in American history or around the world, were heard quoting MLK’s famous speech and saying how it inspired them. For example, Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian lawyer who became the first Iranian women to win the Nobel Peace prize. She is known for defending the rights of Iranian women. One of her quotes is, “I have a dream. My dream is for the human heart to be globalized...in such a way that every individual could feel the pain and sorrow of the other as if it were her own pain and sorrow. Instead of globalize humanity!”. She used part of MLK’s famous line and title of his speech in her speech to give it an effect of almost history repeating itself and showing how the work she was doing had a resemblance of what MLK did. In conclusion, Martin Luther King Jr’s famous speech, “I Have A Dream” was known as one of the most influential speeches that spoke out on the injustices and unfairness of the segregation between whites and blacks. To this day he is regarded as one of the greatest and most inspirational leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. Many people were greatly inspired by his life's works and words. He continues to inspire us to this day. A leader that still has a great impact today
