Mary Ainsworth’s bibliography
Mary D. Salter Ainsworth lives in Glendale Ohio and was born in December of 1913. Ainsworth was very knowledgeable since her childhood. Her childhood was good for her because of her parents. She began reading by the age of three, but then her parents were helping her to read. She lived with her two younger sisters that work so hard to help Mary. Both of their parents graduated in Dickenson College. Her dad earned a masters degree in History that will help everyone that needs help. (Mary, 2002) Ainsworth’s mother taught for a while then started training to become a nurse, but was soon called home so she could take care of her own mother.
Five years after her mother graduated, she married “Ainsworth’s father” and became a homemaker.(www2.webster.edu-woolflim/ainsworth.htm) “Ainsworth’s parents” will always work all the time and when Ainsworth was 5, her father was transferred to a job in Canada working at a manufacturing firm, so the entire family move over there. (www2.webster.edu-woolflim/ainsworth.htm) It was time for them to over there because “Ainsworth’s parents” want to move in a new life. (www2.webster.edu-woolflim/ainsworth.htm) They were so happy that they were going to move to Canada where “Ainsworth’s father” works. (www2.webster.edu-woolflim/ainsworth.htm) She was very close with her father, who assumed the duties of tucking her in at night and singing to her and it was very special to her that she was close to her father, but will be singing to her.
One the other hand, she didn’t have a warm relationship with her mother that it causes for her a lot of fighting and arguing. There were a lot of arguments with them too but they didn’t have any solutions to solve in. while her parents always put a strong emphasis on her education, it was William McDougall’s book Character and the Conduct of Life that inspired her interest in psychology.
