The newly-weds later had two kids; Robert Kermit Baker (Jack), and Bernice Baker. Jasper and Gladys divorced in 1923, under the terms of abuse. Jasper, an alcoholic, had abused Gladys and had given her two concussions. But, along with the divorce came the loss of kids for Gladys because Jasper took the kids with him and said Gladys was an “unfit mother”. When Stephen found out that Catherine was abusing their son, he tried to talk her out of it. At this point, there was no point of return to go back to “good Catherine”; she was long gone and no longer the caring mother that David knew growing up. Stephen could no longer stand seeing David in such condition; therefore, he moved out. The abuse got worse after he left. I think that this move played by the father was low. The Church has held Mary’s perpetual virginity as a dogma, and it is also true that it has brought about distrust and doubt. This skepticism towards Mary’s virginity has grown through out the history of man kind. At the very heart of this dogma lies the credence of the Church and of the Magisterium, who have the proficiency to maintain Mary’s perpetual virginity as an absolute truth. This upholding has perpetually led to the debate of whether Mary, Mother of Jesus, was in fact a virgin through out her entire life. Many see this affirmation as impossible, nonetheless the Church has always believed Mary remain a virgin “during childbirth and after childbirth.” Conversely many people do agree with this statement for the mere belief that the Bible…
