Introjection is a defense mechanism whereby the person take in other people’s feeling and make them their own, in a way introjection can also be seen as a way of identifying with the victims by internalizing their feelings and attributing them to your own( Kaplan and Saddock, 2007). This might give the person a sense of ownership of those feelings, hence the effects of those feelings might be less harmful as they have been internalized.
