With the implementation of the PSH model the turnover time averaged about 29 minutes. This was a 31 percent improvement from before the PSH model was implemented. For those worried about the performance of a surgeon because the turnover time improved, it went unaffected. According to UC Irvine Health, the 166 cases researched that all 166 cases had 100.00 performance rates. Because the performance of the surgeons was so high in less amount of time, this lowered the readmission rate for the same health issue. UC Irvine found that the readmission rate for hip arthroplasties is zero percent. The national average for readmission for a knee arthroplasty is between 2.5 percent and 4.3 percent compared to UC Irvine Health readmission rate which is 1.1 percent…

Janna Sharp: You provided great examples between the state health departments and local health departments; both departments provide certain, but very important services for individuals. The state health departments are responsible for providing classes such as rehab, drug abuse, and better living conditions. Great statement when you stated, “State health departments are responsible for disease surveillance, state laboratory services, responding to public health emergencies, population based prevention services, regulation of health care providers, environmental health, and finally, technical assistance and training.” Do you think there is anything else that the local health departments can do for individuals to provide any other medical assistance?…

All government websites carry a lot of the same information. When researching what local, state, and national agencies gave information on heat advisories and illnesses it was easy because heat illnesses are something that affects everyone. These agencies are about creating a place where the community can go and get information on any public health issue that affects them and their families. Even though the agency websites give a lot of the same information, they all have different structures but rely on each other for information. Local governments focus their information on the community they serve. Specifically Jacksonville Florida, The local government health agency, Duval County Health Department, uses past and current statistics to create advisories and information for Jacksonville. Public health nursing involves a community and the overall health of the community. A community is a group within an area or region. These groups vary through various areas. According to Stanhope & Lancaster, they cited the World Health Organization’s definition of community as a group of people in a defined geographical area that share a common culture, values and norms, and are arranged in a social structure based on the community’s development over time. (Stanhope & Lancaster, p. 397, 2012). There are three factors in community: people, place and function. (Stanhope & Lancaster, p. 397, 2012). These three factors are what we as potential community health/public health nurses examine to develop a plan of care for the community. As community health nurses, the community is the client, with the focus being the collective and common good of the population; the individual patients we care for are now expanded into a whole populations benefit. (Stanhope & Lancaster, p. 398, 2012). Community health is collective needs being met and is done by identifying problems and managing behaviors in the community. (Stanhope & Lancaster, p. 401, 2012). Improving health can be achieved through community partnerships. This can be done by partnering with other organizations to identify community health needs and create programs to facilitate bringing together community members to advance health. (Gamm, p. 51, 1998). A first step to do this would be the windshield survey, which is like a head to toe assessment of a community, to gain understanding of the population in the community. (Stanhope & Lancaster, p. 420).…

Working as a support worker for young adults, among other responsibilities, solely requires maintenance of a safe environment for the young adults to be cared for, while promoting wellbeing. Maintaining a safe environment involves a series of inter-twined activities which include monitoring and reporting the activities of the individuals in care on a day-to-day base. Considering that the activities are carried out by multiple individuals in different placements within the United Kingdom, with different attitudes and operation patterns, the need for regulation to foster uniformity and consistency within all organisations has not been ignored. The National Occupational Standard covers all fields of job roles at diverse levels of responsibility, identifying and expressing the most appropriate and generally acceptable practice in specific fields, bringing…
