Maths Research and budgeting
My task is to find a car that is within my budget of $10000. I’m a 19 year old that works at Kotara full time earning $17.50/hr working 40 hours a week with a net income of $32, 841. I need to buy a car within my price range to make sure I can get to work on time. Kotara is approximately 20km away from home so driving to and from work will approximately be 40km a day. Working 5 days a week in total I will be travelling 200km.
I choose a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage Sport LA that costs $9,990 because it is fuel efficient, runs well, parts are easy to find and reasonably cheap, I love Mitsubishi and the look of this particular car, I have friends that own this car and they say it is the most reliable car they have ever owned, it is small but has lots of room with a massive boot space which is 235 litres (plenty of room for the shopping), it is easier to park into tight spots and has the power of a sports vehicle. The car has a USB port inbuilt to the stereo, Bluetooth for hands free phone calls, CD player, MP3/AUX compatible, ABS, cup holders, power windows, 5 star ANCAP rating and 6 airbags for added safety. It comes with 5 years warranty or 130,000 kilometres and 5 years road side assistance.
This mirage is a 5 speed manual hatch back, 5 doors, and 5 seater car. It’s a front wheel drive with a 3 cylinder 1.2L petrol engine, the rims are steel and tyre size is 195/65 R14 and diameter being 14x45, it is silver in colour. The approximate cost of running this vehicle will be $69 per 1000kms. At current petrol prices it will cost around $51 to fill the tank at 35 litres. Driving to and from work at about 200kms per week will cost around $14 in fuel, adding in weekend driving at about 100kms for Saturday and Sunday it should only cost me $21 a week in fuel. Registration for this vehicle for 12 months will cost about $1200 with green slip being $578, pink slip $35 and registration approximately $530.
Comprehensive Insurance will cost $64.50 per month going through Budget

The vehicles currently available at Lotus Car Rental, like the majority of the other cars on the road, run on gasoline or diesel, but the cost of petroleum products are constantly raising. As of today, the price of West Texas crude oil is $107 a barrel (Davies, July). The high cost of crude oil directly correlates to the high cost of the refined petroleum that we use to fuel our vehicles such as diesel and gasoline. This means the day to day cost of driving a car is rising every day and the costumers of Lotus Car Rental have to deal with this rising cost of fuel when the only vehicles offered are gasoline or diesel powered. Through our research, we have reached the conclusion that Lotuc Car Rental should make an initial investment of a…

According to Couton et al.(2006), various studies have applied hedonic price modeling to show that price variation among new cars can be explained by differences in key product characteristics such as horsepower, engine capacity, speed, and safety features. Car Analysis

I have decided that I want a car that is good on gas mileage, can get around in the snow, and has a good amount of cargo room. It’s important for me to save as much money as I can to pay off my student loans and I don’t want a car that is terrible on gas mileage. Here in Nebraska we get some pretty nasty snow storms so I want a car that I can rely on when it comes to venturing out into the cold. I want a little extra cargo room because I have a big family and would like to continue to do our Sunday family outings and be able to fit in one car. Also, the monthly payment needs to be in my price range. Also, I was interested in something that’s better for the environment; I think an EcoBoost engine would be a good feature to have. I have made a budget plan with all my current expenses except for transportation. I have an excess of about $1,000 a month and I would like to use it (in moderation) towards a car payment.…

    New or Used Car

Everyone loves the idea of getting a brand new sports car. Just the thought of having that candy apple red Mustang GT makes me feels the happiness of children running free in a candy store. Still as amazing as it would be to go out and buy that dream car right now, buying a new car is a big financial decision that can be a little hard to make. What about buying a new “used” car instead? When deciding whether or not to buy a used or new car its best to know and research the important things, not just how great it looks in your drive way or how good you think you would look in it. The start-up cost for the initial purchase and how the costs changes over the subsequent five years is important to know for the future. The value left after five years of paying for the car is also important because you may be spending a larger amount than you ever intended to in the beginning.…
