Maximal Cycle Ergometer Test
Based on the information I received from my client’s pre-exercise testing health status questionnaire form I will make a decision on whether or not she can safely perform the exercise tests listed. The following exercise tests will consist of: Bench press one-repetition maximum (1-RM) strength, leg extension one-repetition maximum (1-RM) strength, submaximal cycle ergometer, maximal cycle ergometer, maximal treadmill, flexibility, and test for anaerobic power. First, I feel that my client should not do the bench press one-repetition maximum strength test, because she has stated that she has problems in the joint and muscle areas of her shoulders. While doing the bench press exercise it has shown to cause a major source of injury in an individual’s …show more content…
Next, my client will also be capable in participating in the maximal cycle ergometer test. She noted that she does not feel an unusual rapid breathing while doing a physical activity or in a sedentary period. So, she will be able to handle the stress from the maximal cycle ergometer test. My client is fit to do the maximal treadmill test. Different from the submaximal cycle ergometer test, however they both will raise a person’s heart rate. As I have already stated my client will be able to push through the stress demanded from this test. Furthermore, her jogging up to three times a week will help her to last through the entire maximal treadmill test. Then, I believe my client cannot do well on the flexibility test. My reasoning behind this is my client experiences problems with her shoulders in the joint and muscle areas during or soon after physical activity. The flexibility test consists of using a sit-and-reach method and if there are problems with her shoulder joints and muscles then it would be difficult to perform this test accurately without causing pain and soreness.
