Mayan Calendar: End of the world? When? Have people ever wondering when is the end of the world? A lot of prophecies has been writing down that one day Mother Earth will be doomed and all the living things on this planet will become nonexistent. The Mayan Calendar, the prophecy foretelling that the World will end on 2012, December 21st, but it did not and everything was back to normal. Although the prophecy might be true for people that are religious, most of them believe that the only way to end the world is humankind. There is no prophecy or predictions that can tell when the doomsday but human is changing the world right now. World war, climate change are the cost of human-caused and also diseases can lead all living things to extinction.

Many factories are built and released a large amount of chemical to the atmosphere and sea. An example from Iron factory in Vietnam, they released chemical and iron into the sea and river. Many people got sick or even death because of using the water system that from the polluted river. Many living things in the seas or animals live on the ground are dying because of the water. Next, the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide is the main pollutant. The chemicals are pumped from vehicles, powers plants and human activities like burning fossil fuels or wars. Then, the atmosphere raises its levels higher and breaks the ozone layers, shield to protect Earth from radiation emitted by the sun. Scientists found that there is an ozone hole in Antarctica, which it is a warning to people that all the activities they are doing right now will soon break the layers. The earth is changing the climates and lead to global warming. The more greenhouse gases trap in the atmosphere, the more heats get trapped. The weather which the amount of snow falling or raining in different areas changes over times. The sun's rays get hotter than before and it can cause cancer by radiation. This could be the way to end the world if people keep doing the same activities and worse. Many places like in Russia's north area, ice is melting and many species like a polar bear or sea lions are dying because their habitat is changing. The industrial revolution has affected the environment which causing air, water pollution. Changes this large have historically taken thousands of years, but are now happening over the course of decades.
