Mcdonalds Eat Out Analysis
Back in the early 1960’s,”McDonald’s did not have the same connotation as it does today. What we think of McDonald’s now as being associated with childhood obesity and “frankenfood”, instead was associated with a place where families enjoyed eating dinner or a fun night out. This ad depicts the restaurant as a social hotspot for fun get togethers that also can provide some comfort and excitement. In the background of this comic-like ad is a starry night and in large, blocky, letters the words, “Let’s Eat Out!” Directly underneath the words, there is a Mcdonald’s restaurant, with the signature Golden Arches included. The starry night suggests that Mcdonald’s in the best place to have dinner, and the use of an exclamation point in the phrase …show more content…
The location of the road and the McDonald’s indicates that it is easy accessible by car. Towards the left of the picture, there are more cars lined up under the Golden Arches, implying that McDonald’s is a popular spot for people to hang out and have fun. The restaurant not only is a place where families can go and have a nice meal, but also a place where other go and just have a good time. The overarching point is that McDonald’s is not a place to go in and quickly eat dinner, but in reality an entire social event.
McDonald’s uses the persuasion technique of pathos in its ad. Using a family and a starry night, the ad conveys a feeling of comfort and happiness with the viewer. In addition, the uses of the exclamation point and happiness of the facial expression of the people there also create an aura of excitement. All in all, the entire ad is bright, which makes an atmosphere of overall happiness.
