In Me Talk Pretty One Day by author David Sedaris, he writes about the experiences encountered during his time in Paris while taking a French class. Sedaris was among many students ridiculed by the French teacher for not speaking fluently and without error. This article can be easily related to as most people have had teachers that are hard to please and/or prefer to teach by humiliation. The article's theme of dealing with a hostile class environment is evident because the author gives examples of the teacher belittling the students, how the simplest tasks can prove you're not prepared, and how the class came together as a coping mechanism.
