Measles is a highly contagious disease and is very preventable. If a person were to be exposed to the measles virus, they would need to be in quarantine for approximately fourteen days. In this essay, the author will describe and discuss the spread of the measles and strategical ways of preventing the spread of this viral disease. When someone who is infected with the measles virus coughs or sneezes, the virus can live in the airspace for up to two hours. This is because the
virus is found in the throat mucus and nose of an infected host. It is not spread by any other species than humans. Measles is so contagious that 90% of people who come into contact with the measles and are not immune, will also become infected. National Center for Immunization, (2014).
