New devices and technology usually handle one medium or accomplish some basic tasks; through technological convergence, devices can interact with a wider array of media types. New technology within media convergence redefines media content and alters human interaction with social institutions such as government, education, and commerce. Technology convergence has had both a positive and negative affect on our everyday life. Communication has had a positive affect from technological convergence. We are able to use cell phones to talk to one another and we can even video call friends and families as well as hold video conferences from work. While these are popular means of communication, there is research constantly being conducted to improve upon it. The internet continues to flourish from technology, as we are able to do almost anything from it. Shopping involves everything from buying new items, bidding on auctions or searching for used and new products on ad sites. Before, someone had to get their degree by attending college on campus, but now we can learn from the comfort of our own home. But the problem with all this technological goodness is that it has happened too quickly for society, and is falling into the hands of individuals who do not understand the technology or who deviate from the intended use.
