This internship was a great experience for me to actually get some real hands on training in a live work environment. I had a slight expectation on what was to come. I had no idea that it was just consistently plugging in codes and prices for treatment. I thought there would be some customer service skills involved and quality assurance of billing, but overall I’m glad I got a taste of what is to come. I have experience in medical billing in the past and it was more of a liaison position between patient itemized bills and insurance companies.
If I continue in this field I will have to screen the job position/description more stringently. On the other hand, I’m very pleased to have work with the Executive Director, Marty Dennis and Supervisor Jenny Dalton. The whole staff there is very friendly and the ability to work independently in a great work environment made me feel liked I belonged. I would definitely recommend Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to anyone who has to do an internship in the medical billing field. I’m so thankful to experience this opportunity in a field that matches my educational
