In attempting to ready myself for a medical profession I have attempted to work with individuals at all levels of the socioeconomic ladder and tried to look at communities not only here at home in America but in my native country India. I did not always think this way. One is to work with the organization known as Doctors without Borders and second to work as an emergency room physician within the underserved communities here at home in America. I first heard about Doctors without Borders watching a documentary about a conflict occurring in the Middle East. hearing about the countless atrocities being committed against people by their own governments. Being fortunate enough to never have witness this level of human suffering firsthand I knew I had to begin to work with people in these situations to the best of ability. With this in mind, I wish to participate as a member serving as a doctor not from a any country but someone simply representing a capabilities of their profession overseas. I also hope to serve those at home who might be American in name yet have less privileges than those in many third-world countries. Americans in many communities who live with broken homes and broken lives should at least not be turned away from the best possible medical care due to their socioeconomic status or geographic location. With this in mind I hope to serve a physician working in the ER handling victims of their communities and of an inadequate system which has failed them.
With a medical degree in hand, I hope to train as a resident within an environment which readies me for countless amount of trauma I could witness within the field of medical examination. I have previously shadowed ER physicians and worked specifically with mentally traumatized victims in order to prepare myself with the level of trauma someone in that position witnesses on a daily basis. With such a program at hand I know I can work to expand my own experiences and begin to strengthen a previously weak dedication into a more robust commitment towards what I hope one day becomes my
