Both of those times were in the '80's before computers were being used on a daily basis in the healthcare field. The front office did their thing with appointments, billing/coding, and insurance. The back office did our direct patient care, vitals, getting patients ready to for exam, doing procedures as ordered. Now I am about to re-enter the medical office field again and have no idea how EHR has changed the billing process.
It seems that the lines have blurred between the front office and back office. Making cross-training a positive office program.
