A pardoner who gives pardons to people with sin and also sells certificates blessed by the pope,
however most of them are fake. A cleric works for the church, and transcribing important documents. There is also a summoner who brings the criminal in front of the judge. The church in medieval time has much larger power than it does today. It controlled people's life from the king to a shoes maker. During that period people have to pay tithe, which can be money or other goods, to the churches in order to get service for baptisms, marriages and burials. If someone did not pay the tithe, he or she can not be buried on holy land, thus could not go to havens after his death. Also they can not be married without witness of the priest. Also it was an honor to die while people were working on a church, because they can go to the haven. Religious is a serious topic during the medieval period, people believed the church without any doubt. The medicine during the medieval period was not that helpful. People believed diseases came from the sins of soul and can be cured by purified their souls. The most horrific plague, Black Death killed 25 millions of people, which was about two thirds of the population, because there was no medicine for it. Occupations, church and medicine make the medieval a interesting but not great period.
