Personal statement

I am a highly motivated person and I have a lot of confidence in speaking to an audience. I am an honest, trustworthy, self—motivated and reliable person I adapt well in different situations and enjoy a challenge I always put my full effort into everything and do the task to the best of my ability. I am enthusiastic, friendly and co-operative both in and out of school. In Year 10 I was elected as a Prefect by both pupils and staff. This included supervising areas in school both at dinner and break times, co-operating with staff, working in groups and attending functions out of school hours.

I have lived in London for about 6 years before that I studied in a private school in Mauritius and I am planning to finish my studies after university but everyone knows you can never stop learning. I have various cultures in my family which include: French, Mauritian, English, and Italian.

I enjoy doing artistic things like painting, drawing and sketching which is why my aspiration is to become an interior designer/architect or an oil broker for international countries as I speak 3 languages which are Creole, French and English and I am also very good at marketing and advertisement.

At Langdon academy I have contributed to a fair amount of extra activities which include; charity sales, charity fundraisers, food sales, sponsored activities (which are a sponsored bake for Great Ormand street Hospital and a sponsored silence for the deaf). I like trying new adventurous things which is why I went to an outwood bound trip in wales for a week which pushed me to the limits that I myself didn’t know I could achieve. This trip consisted of navigating in the dark using only a compass and a map, rock climbing, canoeing up a river to lead us to our camp site. We had to work in teams to build our tents and our fire place the next day we packed al out gear in our backpack which was most likely heavier than me and hiked 25 miles through forests and

According to the Bill of Rights, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Nowhere in the First Amendment does it state that in times of war, the government can change the laws that have been made to protect the people of the United States. Although some thought President Wilson’s actions were just, he did not abide by the rules of the First Amendment, and because of that, he went too far in limiting people’s civil liberties during World War One.…

The Epic of Gilgamesh is an ancient Mesopotamian epic about a king who is two thirds god and one third man. The king does not meet his expectations of leadership as he is selfish and often angers the Gods. When his companion Enkidu dies, Gilgamesh goes off on a quest to attain immortality. He fails in this quest and eventually dies, but through his travel he came to terms with his own mortality and his greatness lived on. While the main characters are men, women have small but important roles in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The women in this epic reveal that ancient Mesopotamians valued womenÕs roles as child bearers and transmitters of civilization. While the Epic of Gilgamesh reveals much about Mesopotamian religion, the goddesses described also reveal, in some ways, how the Mesopotamian viewed and valued women. Ishtar is the goddess of both love and war, this shows that women have the power to be both wonderful and productive or destructive and horrible. A womanÕs most important role in life is to bear children and a woman who cannot bear children is seen as destructive to the population. Only a woman has the capacity to create life and that makes her important and valuable. The one who created the earth, according to the Epic of Gilgamesh, was a goddess, a woman. The wife of the sun is the dawn, giving birth to a new day. Because of…

As a part of our course we had a chance to go on two trips one a simple walking trip to the Lincolnshire Wolds and then an overnight walking trip to the peak district. The walk in the Lincolnshire Wolds we simply had to walk from one place to another in our teams and as a team us a map to follow points and get us where we needed to be. On the second trip to the peak district we had to walk from the bus to our camp, using a map and our orienteering to get us to the camp. We got their relatively easy, when we got to the camp we then had to put up our tents and as a team it went as planned. On the second leg of our walk some of us got tired and others members encouraged them to walk on slowly we made it to our destination.…

I am writing to apply for the chance to be a senior prefect. There are numerous reasons as to why I would be honoured for the chance to forfill the role. Firstly I feel that it is a position that comes with great responsibility which will be beneficial in the future for CVs and will appeal to employees and Universities. Also as I have been a member of Treorchy Comprehensive school for around six years I think that becoming a senior prefect will give me another opportunity to contribute to the school and take a more active role within the school community. Since my younger years at the school I have always looked up to the Sixth form students for support and guidance. I would like the chance myself, to help younger students as I feel I am approachable and caring. After recieving my GCSE results where I exceeded my target grades in a majority of subjects I realised that I wanted to become a senior prefect to give back to the school that has improved my learning incredibly.…

I consider myself to be suitable candidate for the roles with my high standard of uniform, attendance and punctuality throughout all my time here at Crispin, I believe that I am a good role model for the rest of the school. My attitude for learning has always been of an excellent standard and I have always had the will to do well at school, both in primary and secondary school. Prior to the lessons, I along with Taisha run a lunchtime French club once a week on a Tuesday. I also work 4 days a week to fund raise money towards my World Challenge expedition to Morocco. This is just one example of my willingness through my own choice and I believe this also gives me the motivation to do well in school. Moreover, I think that I am reliable and responsible; both of which are important qualities for the roles of prefect and head boy. I feel I could pass on these qualities and show the importance of them to the students in the lower half of the school.…

I started backpacking at 13, trekking across the winter-harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling warmed my numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to my friends, fostering the teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy; eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping others. This is how the backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would be based on these lessons.…
