THE WORLD IN 2050
The future may be very different of what we know today in many aspects: social, political, cultural or economic. In this work I will focus in economy. We cannot know what is going to happen with the world economy in the future. Economics is an uncertain science, so we cannot predict it. In world economy there are several participants that may affect and can choose different performances that make economy run in distinct ways. However, we can do an estimation of what will be the economic situation in some years, and that’s what I’m going to do in this work.
The information used in the report is based mainly in the report of the PricewaterhouseCoopers consultant and the report from Goldman Sachs, but complemented by other additional sites and reports that have been useful in order to support better explanations and illustrate the assignment.
THE CURRENT WORLD’S ECONOMY
Firstly, what we must to do is analyze the current situation in the world’s economy in order to contrast with the results. In the following image we can see the main actors in the world economy.
All the countries in the previous image belong to one of the most significant groups in the economy, the G7 or the BRICs.
G7
It’s an international organization composed by the seven leading industrial nations, that are Canada, France, Germany, Japan, UK and the USA, and which have a relevant paper in the politic, economic and military situation worldwide. It was established officially in 1985 in order to make easier the cooperation among the world’s largest industrial nations. These advanced countries meet annually in order to coordinate economic and monetary policies and to address relevant issues. There’s not a unique criteria to belong to this group, there are not democratic criteria to be considered as part of this unit. BRICS
