These questions build a basic structure to finding out why we believe the things we do. There is no doubt that we can think and that we can't control our thinking or tell ourselves to stop thinking. Descartes believes that we are a thing that thinks and that we feel, imagine and doubt. He believed that intellect is what makes us who we are. Knowledge and intellect are related because intellect helps us understand ourselves and through that we gain knowledge. I wondered how he will ever be certain since he is not able to remember new things and will just forget killing someone. He has no knowledge of who he really is and has doubts about killing the right guy every time he kills someone. What he should of done is figure out who he truly is before he tries to figure who somebody else is. Once he knows who he truly is and knows how he want to perceive everything, thats when he will have a basic structure of who he truly is. The only reason there should be doubt is if there is uncertainty of who you truly are. If you were certain that God is real there would be no doubt for you, but who's to say there won't be doubt for anybody else. Everybody perceives things differently and some might need solid proof to believe. Some might not even care that God is real just to prevent doubt.
